Arriving back in London, I still enjoy the taste of Tanzania for some weeks to come ... Kilimanjaro tea, sand dollars, Konhagy, salt from the Indian Ocean, Safari beer, mangos, coffee, tamarindo, special nuts, Tanzanian coke, tasty oranges, and an odd dry fruit that contains some cubes which are used to produce candyyy :))

Die letzten paar Tage meiner Reise verbrachte ich an der Nordküste von Tanzania, an einem abgelegenen Strand bei Pangani. Dort hinzugelangen war fast eine kleine Weltreise ;) 

Vom Landesinneren, genauer gesagt am Fuße des Kilimanjaro, bin ich in der Früh um halb neun aufgebrochen und erstmal gute sechs Stunde in Richtung Küste nach Tanga gefahren. Von dort ging's eine Stunde später in einem Minibus an mein Ziel. 

Busfahren in Tanzania ist wahrlich ein Abenteuer, ganz nach dem Motto: der Weg ist das Ziel :)

Fahrpläne sind meistens nicht vorhanden und selbst wenn, sind sie wohl eher eine vage Richtlinie, als ein strikt einzuhaltender Plan. Abgefahren wird, wenn der Bus voll ist. Aber auch mit den Sitzplätzen ist das so eine Sache. Was man in Europa unter einem vollbesetzten Bus versteht, ist in Tanzania noch nichtmal annähernd abfahrbereit. Unser Gefährt war wohl für etwa 20 Leute gemacht, mitgefahren sind aber mindestens 43!!!

Ach du meine Güte, ich hab mich zuerst richtig schlecht gefühlt, mit meinem großen Rucksack und dem kleinen dazu in den vollbesetzten Bus zu steigen ... aber schon gleich stellte ich fest, dass mein Gepäckstück winzig war, im Vergleich zu dem, was noch alles reinkam. Einfach unglaublich: ein Typ kletterte mit einer Matratze in den Bus rein!!! Eine Frau kam mit einigen Kisten lebender Hühner an. Ein anderer Passagier schleppte einen uralten Drahtesel mit, der natürlich ganz schön sperrig war, aber egal ... das geht sich alles aus!

Tja und da man ja auch am Weg immer wieder noch Mitfahrer aufklaubt und einige andere aussteigen lässt (eine anspruchsvolle Kraxelübung) und die Straßen ja oft nicht asphaltiert sind, brauchten wir für 50km sage und schreibe ZWEI STUNDEN :)

*ein unvergessliches Erlebnis*

Im kleinen Pangani bin ich eigentlich nur am Faulenzen, mit den Einheimischen quatschen, genießen, rumspazieren, Mangos naschen, den Fischern in den frühen Morgenstunden zuschauen, Sanddollars suchen und finden, baden, lesen, Sonne liegen ... meine letzten richtig unbeschwerten Ferien ... für längere Zeit !!!

SERENGETI SAFARI

My 4-day safari was for sure the most impressive part of my trip ... although the most touristy.

It was the first time I went on safari! 

I felt like being right in the middle of a wildlife docu ... it's so incredible that huge animals such as elephants, giraffes, hippos, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, buffalos, ostrichs, leopards, rhinos and others are happily walking through the landscape ... no fence, no gate. It's something that doesn't exist anywhere except the green parts of Africa!

on the last day, we visit Lake Manyara National Park with lotsa baboons, flamingos and birds

 elephants eat around 20kg of foliage each day ... they have two stomachs to digest everything - and sleep only 4 hours!

Via Dubai nach Ostafrika

Mit Emirates Airlines flieg ich von London nach Dar Es Salaam ... obwohl ich Economy Class fliege, komm ich mir vor wie in einem Luxusliner - im zweistöckigen Airbus A380 mit integriertem Sternenfunkelhimmel :)

Der Dubai Airport ist wohl auch einer der besten der Welt und ... mit Blick auf den Burj al Khalifa!
